Live oak, cabbage palm, red cedar, wax myrtle, and yaupon dominate the beaches canopy, joined by planted queen and Washingtonia palms in the residential streets. The oaks are typically low and wind-flagged, and that shape should be preserved rather than corrected.

Palm maintenance is the bread-and-butter work here — dead fronds, seed pods, and boots, removed to the 9-and-3 standard rather than the over-stripped look that is unfortunately common along the beaches. Over-pruned palms are weaker in storms, not stronger.
