Our Story

Built one neighbor at a time

Have Faith Trees started the way most good local trades do — one job, one referral, one neighbor telling another. Robert Morgen still runs it that way. He does every estimate himself, and if you have read our Google reviews you will notice how often people mention that he took the time to explain what was actually happening with their trees.

That is not a sales technique. Tree work in Florida is one of the least regulated home services there is, and the range of quality between companies is enormous. Some crews are careful professionals. Some are two guys with a chainsaw, no insurance, and a habit of topping anything they cannot climb. Homeowners have no easy way to tell the difference from a driveway.

So we explain. What species it is, what is actually wrong with it, what the options are, and what each one costs. Sometimes that conversation ends with us not getting the work, because the tree does not need it. We have found that to be a perfectly good business model.

Today we cover St. Johns County and out into Flagler, Duval, Clay and Putnam — from the palms along the beaches to the pines out past State Road 207, and everything in between.

The standards we hold ourselves to

None of these are legally required to run a tree company in Florida. That is exactly why they are worth asking every company about — including us.

  • ANSI A300 pruning standards

    The industry rulebook for where a cut goes and how much canopy can come off. It is why we do not top trees and do not lion-tail limbs, no matter who asks.

  • ANSI Z133 safety requirements

    Drop zones, electrical clearances, rigging practice and traffic control. Tree work has one of the highest injury rates of any trade — the standards exist for a reason.

  • Full liability and workers’ compensation

    Certificate available on request before any crew arrives. If a company cannot produce one from their carrier, the risk lands on your homeowners policy.

  • Climbing, not spiking, on trees we keep

    Spikes wound a tree you intend to keep. They belong on removals only, and using them anywhere else is a shortcut at your tree’s expense.

The best tree advice is often "leave it alone"

Tree companies make money removing trees, and that is a real conflict of interest. Plenty of trees we are called to remove need pruning, a support cable, or a fix to the irrigation instead. Customers keep writing reviews about this, which tells you how rare it is.

Cleanup is part of the job, not an extra

Brush chipped, wood hauled or stacked as firewood if you want it, work area raked and the driveway blown clean. A job is not finished until the yard looks like we were never there.

Most of what we clean up after a storm was visible months earlier. A spring inspection and a weight-reduction trim costs a fraction of a 2 a.m. call-out in September, and you get to schedule it on a normal Tuesday.

Who actually does the work — do you subcontract?
We do. Robert performs every estimate himself and works on the job, and the crew that shows up is our crew. We do not sell your job on to a subcontractor, which matters because the person who assessed your tree and the person cutting it are the same people.
Are you licensed and insured, and can I verify it?
Yes, and you should verify it — with us and with anyone else you get a quote from. We carry general liability and workers’ compensation, and we will have a certificate sent to you directly by our carrier on request, before any crew arrives. Ask for the certificate from the carrier rather than a photocopy. Florida has no statewide tree service contractor license, so insurance verification is the single most useful check a homeowner can make.
How long have you been doing this?
Have Faith Trees has been working Northeast Florida trees for over 8 years, out of a shop on 600 Domenico Cir in St. Augustine. Most of our work comes from referrals and neighbors rather than advertising, which is why the 47 Google reviews matter more to us than any marketing budget.
Will you top my trees if I ask you to?
No. Topping a tree — cutting the canopy back to stubs — triggers weakly attached regrowth and opens the trunk to decay, so within a few years you have a taller, more dangerous tree than you started with. The same goes for stripping a palm into a "hurricane cut." We will explain what proper reduction pruning does instead, and if you want topping specifically, we are the wrong company.
How do you price work, and are there hidden fees?
Every estimate is free, on site, and written down before anything starts. The price covers the work described plus full debris cleanup unless the estimate says otherwise, and anything quoted separately — stump grinding, mitigation planting — is listed as such on the quote. If we open up a job and find something we genuinely could not have seen beforehand, we stop and talk to you before continuing rather than adding it to the invoice.
What happens if something on my property gets damaged?
That is exactly what liability insurance is for, and it is why we carry it. In practice we plan drop zones around irrigation, septic, pavers and screen enclosures, and we rig and lower rather than dropping anything near something breakable. Minor turf disturbance can happen on soft ground, and we rake and repair work areas before we leave.
